Corporal Leonard Aubrey Barsby (Service No:Q210084) enlisted in the ACMF as a Private on 8 April 1942 and served with 20 Battalion VDC (QLD) until Discharge on 21 October 1945.

Born in 1907 in Gympie QLD, Len was the eighth of twelve children of Francis (Frank) Barsby (b1864 in Rutland, England) and Sarah Butler (b1872 at Lagoon Pocket, Gympie). Frank was an Agricultural Labourer when he immigrated in 1886, arriving in Maryborough, QLD on board the Silhet. He worked as a Farm Labourer at Rosemount in Tinana and was a Farmer at Imbil in 1898 when he and Sarah married in Gympie, QLD. By 1907 the couple settled at Tinana where they raised their family and Frank was a Dairy Farmer.

Len was a Dairy Farmer at Coleman Siding in Kilkivan, QLD and in 1937 in Gympie he married Marie Eucharia Gesch (b1915 in Howard, Wide Bay, QLD). Len and Marie settled at Coleman Siding where they raised their family and Len was a Dairy Farmer. By 1949 Len and Marie were living in Cinnabar via Kilkivan where Len was a Storekeeper. In the 1986 New Years Honours, Len was awarded the British Empire Medal (civil division) for services to the community. Len and Marie both died in 2002.
