Private Lindsay Gordon Barsby (Service No:QX32332) first served with the ACMF (Private; Service No:Q105995) with 47 Battalion VDC from 15 May 1941 to 3 March 1942. On 19 May 1942 he enlisted in the AIF and served with 2/102 General Transport Coy in New Guines from 29 December 1942 to 26 May 1943. Private Barsby was Discharged on 18 June 1943 (Essential Industry).

Born in 1912 in Tinana QLD, Lindsay was the eleventh of twelve children of Francis (Frank) Barsby (b1864 in Rutland, England) and Sarah Butler (b1872 at Lagoon Pocket, Gympie, QLD). Frank was an Agricultural Labourer in 1886 when he immigrated, arriving in Maryborough, QLD on board the Silhet. Frank worked as a Farm Labourer at Rosemount in Tinana and by 1898 was a Farmer at Imbil when he and Sarah married in Gympie, QLD. By 1907 Frank and Sarah had settled at Tinana where they raised their family and Frank was a Farmer.

Lindsay was working in Tinana, QLD as a Cane Cutter in 1941 when he enlisted in the ACMF. Following his service with the AIF, Lindsay was a Farmer at Tinana in 1943 when he married Grace Margaret Cran (b1912 in Maryborough, QLD). Lindsay and Grace lived at Tansey via Goomeri, QLD where Lindsay was a Farmer before retiring to Hervey Bay on the Fraser Coast in QLD. Lindsay died in 1981 and Grace in 2004.
