Flying Officer Harold Edward Bauer (Service No:426514) initially served with the ACMF (Private; Service No:Q25265) from 14 August 1940 to 20 January 1942 and was attached to 47 Infantry Battalion when he Discharged to enlist in the RAAF. An Air Crew II on enlistment (mustered as Navigator), Harold was promoted to Flying Officer by 23 January 1945 and was attached to 107 Operational Training Unit (OTU) at Discharge on 12 December 1945.

Born in 1917 in Maryborough QLD, Harold was the eldest of two children of William George Bauer (b1885 in Maryborough, QLD) and Emma Bertha Louisa Dorr (b1889 in Maryborough, QLD). William (a Labourer) and Emma (a Waitress) married in 1915 in Maryborough, QLD where they settled and raised their family and William was a Labourer.

Harold worked in Maryborough as a Labourer and Timber Tally Clerk before enlisting for service in WWII. In 1942 in Maryborough, Harold married Dorothy May Auer (b1917 in Bundaberg, QLD). Following his Discharge, Harold and Dorothy lived in Maryborough where Harold was a Timber Tally Clerk, before moving to Howard in the early 1950s. Harold worked as a Sawmiller in Howard and Maryborough before moving to Gladsone in the late 1970s where he was an Engine Driver. Dorothy died in 1999 and Harold in 2000.
