Walter was born in Mackay on 9 Apr 1891, son of Ernest Milne and Jesse Sewell.

Corporal Milne enlisted 1 May 1916, and embarked from Brisbane per HMAT A48 “Boonah” on 21 Oct 1916.

He served on the Western Front with the 41st Battalion AIF.

He returned to Australia on 12 Jun 1919, and was discharged on 23 Jul 1919.

He married Bessie Crossman Clements on 8 Dec 1919.  He died 31 Oct 1951. Walter was a Clerk.
