Colin was the youngest of six children of Albert Ernest Boatwright (b1880 in Ipswich, QLD) and Ann (Annie) Molloy (b1875 in Dalby, QLD). Albert (a Labourer) and Annie married in 1900 in Ipswich, QLD where they settled and raised their family.

Colin was a Shop Assistant in Ipswich QLD when he enlisted in the ACMF in September 1940 (Private; Service no:Q143814). He was attached to Northern Command Area Band when he was Discharged in June 1947.

Colin married Beris Ida Millican (b1919 in Toowoomba, QLD) a couple of weeks after his Discharge in June 1947 in Ipswich - Beris had also served in WWII (Private; Service No:QF271583). Colin and Beris settled in Ipswich, QLD where Colin worked as a Shop Assistant. He died in 1994 and Beris in 2002.
