Sergeant Kevin John Bradshaw (Service Nos:Q25289/QX62098) initially enlisted in the ACMF on 13 September 1941 as a Private with 47 Infantry Battalion, and served with 2 Coy Townsville Signals (Signaller) - 'I was transferred to Fortress Signals at Kissing Point Townsville, and was there when Townsville was bombed by the Japanese' (NAA; 1976). Promoted to Lance Sergeant, he served in the Torres Strait Islands with 4 Carrier Maintenance Section from 28 February 1943 to 27 July 1945, and described how 'We were at times harassed by enemy reconnaissance planes - some dropped their bombs on Horn Island before departing' (NAA; 1976). Sergeant Bradshaw was attached to 4 Carrier Maintenance Section at Discharge on 20 October 1945.
Kevin was born in 1916 in Maryborough QLD, only child of John (Jack) Bradshaw (b1886 in Maryborough, QLD) and Anastasia Margaret O'Brien (b1886 in Maryborough, QLD). Jack and Anastasia married in 1916 in Maryborough, where they settled and raised their son, and Jack was a Bootmaker.
Kevin was working in Maryborough as a Radio Mechanic in 1941 when he enlisted in the ACMF, and in 1942 married Olive Mildred Robinson (b1922 in Maryborough, QLD). Following his Discharge from the Army, Kevin and Olive settled in Maryborough, where they raised their family and Kevin was a Radio Mechanic and Radio and TV Technician. Olive died in 2001 and Kevin in 2004.
