Sapper Robert Browning (Service No:Q191296) served in the ACMF from 25 July 1940 to 27 February 1942 with 3 Workshop and Park Coy RAE. Older brothers Henry and Allen served in WWI.
Born in 1904 in London Englland, Rob was the fifth of seven children of Sidney Robert Browning (b1855 in London, England) and second wife Mary Ann Elizabeth Williams (b1864 in London, England). Sidney (a Hairdresser) and Mary (a Grocer) married in 1890 in London, where they lived and Sidney was a Hairdresser and Insurance Agent. In 1914 Mary and the children immigrated to Sydney NSW on board the Borda and were joined by Sidney in 1915 on board the Demosthenes. Sidney and Mary settled in Brisbane, QLD where Sidney was a Clerk.
Rob worked as a Station Hand in Thargomindah before returning to Brisbane where he was a Welder in 1938 when he married Jean Trapper (b1916 in Nambour, QLD). Rob and Jean settled in Brisbane where Rob worked as a Storeman. Rob died in 1979.
