Private Andrew Paul Bryson (Service No:Q202182) served in the ACMF with 3 Battalion VDC from 18 May 1943 to 21 October 1945. Older brothers Joseph and Thomas served in WWI.

Ninth of ten children of Thomas Bryson (b1869 in Glasgow, Scotland) and his first wife Elizabeth McCaffrey Robertson (b1869 in Glasgow, Scotland), Andrew was born in Glasgow in 1905. Thomas (an Apprentice Optician) and Elizabeth (a Power Loom Weaver) married in 1889 in Glasgow, where they settled and raised their family and Thomas worked as an Optician, Model Ship Maker and Insurance Agent. Elizabeth died in 1911, and Thomas immigrated with his ten children, arriving Brisbane in 1911 on board the  Torilla. Thomas settled with his family in Brisbane, and in 1920 remarried to Isabella Morrison McCorkindale (b1879 in Glasgow, Scotland). Thomas was a Labourer and Insurance Agent.

Andrew worked as a Waterside Worker in Brisbane, and in 1932 he married Florence Edith May Pritchard (b1901 in Brisbane, QLD). Andrew and Florence settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Andrew was a Waterside Worker and Welder. Following his Discharge from the Army, Andrew and Florence lived in Brisbane until the late 1950s (Andrew was a Boilermaker), when they separated. Andrew moved to South Australia, where he died in 1976. Florence died in 1977.
