Private Russell Edward Budd (Service No:QX9880) enlisted in the AIF on 24 June 1940, and was attached to 2/1 Motor Ambulance Convoy on 26 December 1940 when he embarked with his Unit from Sydney for the Middle East and service in Greece and at El Alamein, embarking for the RTA on 27 February 1943. Private Budd transferred to 2/6 Australian Supply Depot (ASD) Coy - graded Butcher - on 9 May 1943, serving in New Guinea (Finschafen, Milne Bay, Lae) from 26 July 1943 to 7 March 1944. Private Budd then served in Borneo with 2/27 Australian Supply Depot Platoon (15 May 1945 - 15 November 1945), and was attached to 1 Australian Motor Ambulance Convoy at Discharge on 28 November 1945.
Pat was born in Esk, QLD in 1917, youngest of five children of Herbert Edward Budd (b1879 at Mt Perry via Gin Gin, QLD) and Emily Amelia McGilvray (b1881 in Stroud via Newcastle, New South Wales). Herbert was a Farmer in Murwillumbah in 1903 when he and Emily married, settling in Murwillumbah, where they raised their family and Herbert was a Farmer. By 1915 Herbert and Emily had settled at Murrumba via Esk, QLD, where they raised their family and Herbert was a Farmer and Grazier before retiring to the Gold Coast in QLD.
Pat worked as a Butcher, and played cricket for Esk before enlisting in the Army. In 1946 in Esk, Pat married Evelyn Ruth Krisanski (b1925 in Mundubbera, QLD). Pat and Evelyn lived in Esk before settling in Dalby in the 1950s - Pat was a Butcher. Pat died in 1990 and Evelyn in 1995.
