Parents: - George Edwin New and Nellie Eliza Redward married April 1917 in Greenwich, London, United Kingdom.
Cause of death: - Taken from Red Cross records. Private Leonard George New was a Turkish prisoner of war interned at a working camp in Kula Majora Raurus, Turkey, at about 6.am a large boulder, which had been dislodged by heavy rain, came crashing through the roof of the hut he was sleeping in bringing a beam down on his head and fracturing his skull. He was taken to hospital, but eventually died two hours later. He was initially buried in the German Cemetery in Selemedik, Turkey. (Informant: - Private C. McLean, 14th Battalion, AIF)
