Charles (Charlie) was the sixth of eight children of Colin Campbell (born 1855 in Scotland) and Catherine Wilson (born 1861 in Ireland) Colin and Catherine married in 1886 in Maryborough, QLD and raised their family in Maryborough and Bundaberg before settling in Cordalba, Childers, QLD where Colin was Overseer on Knockroe Plantation.
Charlie worked as a Labourer in Childers, QLD, marrying Florence Hilda Brandt (born 1904 in Chillagoe, QLD) before settling in Gordonvale where he worked as an Engine Driver.
In 1921, younger brother Norman was killed in a work accident at the Mulgrave Central Sugar Mill in Gordonvale, and older brother Colin (Service No: 2609) died serving in WWI. Older brother William (Service No:1013) served in WWI.
Charlie enlisted in 1942 in the Australian Army and served as a Sergeant (Service No: Q219827) with 17 Infantry Battalion until October 1945.
Charlie and Florence continued to live in Gordonvale, QLD where Charlie worked as an Engine Driver until 1968. He died in 1984 and Flornce in 1959
