Signalman Norman Henry Cardinal (Service No:Q127718) served in the ACMF (Trade Group - Linesman and Instrument Mechanic) with 1 LoC Signals from 22 May 1942 to 21 March 1945.
Born in 1917 in Nambour QLD, Norman was the youngest of four children of Christopher Charles Cardinal (b1867 in London, England) and Ada Jamieson (b1875 in Cooktown, QLD). Christopher immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1869, arriving in Brisbane QLD on board the Young Australian. Christopher (a House Painter) and Ada married in 1902 in Brisbane where they lived until 1909 when the family moved to Nambour. Christopher was a Farmer at Palmwoods until his death in 1927.
Norman worked as a Telephone Mechanic in Charleville until his enlistment in the ACMF in 1942. Following his Discharge, Norman worked as a Telephone Technician in Brisbane, and in 1954 married Faith Beryl Scott (b1924 in Sydney, NSW) - Faith was a Dressmaker in Brisbane. Norman and Faith settled in Gympie QLD where Norman was a Telephone Technician before returning to Brisbane by 1968 and living in Beaudesert. Faith died in 2007 and Norman in 2010.
