Private Colin Roy Chapman (Service No:QX63372) served in the Australian Army from 6 March 1945 to 13 December 1946 and was attached to 2 Returned Stores Depot at Discharge.
Born in 1927 in Brisbane QLD, Colin was the son of Albert Samuel Chapman (b1902 in Gympie, QLD) and his first wife Marjorie Enright (b1909 in Gympie, QLD). Albert (a Labourer) and Marjorie settled in Gympie where Albert was a Labourer. Following Marjorie's death in 1941, Albert remarried - Vera Anne Ellenor Beatrice Smith (b1909 in Cooran, QLD) and he and Vera lived in Gympie where Albert worked as a Wardsman.
Following his Discharge, Colin returned to Gympie where he worked as a Salesman and in the early 1950s married Betty May Carswell (b1928 in Gympie, QLD). Colin and Betty settled in Gympie where Colin was a Grocer, Salesman and Manufacturer and served as an Alderman. Colin was engaged in voluntary work in his community and in 1989 was awarded a National Medal with Clasps for long and diligent service to the community. In 1991 he was recognised in the Queen's Birthday Honours (OAM) for service to the community and public health. Betty died in 2001 and Colin in 2008.
