Add my storyBiography contributed by Graham Christensen
Ivan was my uncle. His father was Albert Henry CHRISTENSEN WW1, and his brother was my father Brian Bernard CHRISTENSEN. Both Brian and Ivan served in PNG in WW2.
Ivan was born in and lived most of his life in Maryborough Qld. At times he was a publican - of The White Lion - fame. when I was a boy he used to sit me on a stool in the corner of the bar with a lemonade.
He married his long time partner Violet WISE later in life and they retired at Point Vernon Hervey Bay. Ivan drove a school bus in retirement and was known for his 'funny stories'.
Sadly or not, Violet passed away on a Saturday and Ivan passed away the following day.
He and Violet are at rest in the Maryborough Crematorium garden of remembrance. I attended their joint service and spoke to the great memories I had of Ivan and Violet.
Oh, by the way Ivan was actually known all his life as 'Moss' or 'Mossy'.. related to his clinging to rocks underwater whilst being taught to swim as a kid.
Uncle Moss - part of my life as an uncle.
