Private Eric Disney Cran (Service No:QX31265) initially enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:Q24698) and served with 47 Infantry Battalion from 3 January 1940 - 13 February 1942. On 7 April 1942, Private Cran enlisted in the AIF and served with 7 Training Battalion before being posted to 2/15 Infantry Battalion on 22 August 1942. Private Cran served in the Middle East, New Guinea and British North Borneo and was Discharged on 2 April 1946.
Born in 1918 in Maryborough QLD, Eric was the youngest of five children of Disney James Cran (b1884 at Yengarie, QLD) and Rose Beatrice Mortleman (b1888 at Gayndah, Wide Bay, QLD). Disney worked as a Farm Labourer and an Engine Driver at Biggenden and Mt Shamrock Mines, and was a Farmer at Bidwell Paddocks, Tinana in 1909 when he and Rose married in Maryborough, QLD. The couple settled at Tinana where they raised their family and Disney was a Dairy and Cane Farmer - later entering into partnership with two of his sons.
Eric worked as a Farm Hand at Tinana before enlisting in the Army and in 1947 in Maryborough QLD he married Beryl Jean Klein (b1923 in Maryborough, QLD). Eric and Beryl lived at Tinana where Eric was a Cane Inspector and by 1954 they had settled at Sarina, QLD where they raised their family and Eric worked as a Cane Disease and Pest Inspector. Eric died in 1992.
