Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Gordon was the youngest of two sons of Henry Bartholomew Daley (born 1892 at Toppers Mountain near Tingah, NSW) and Elsie Ivy Ellenor Booth (born 1895 in Moree, NSW). Henry, a Teamster, and Elsie married at Inglewood near Ipswich, QLD in 1914. They lived at Yarraman on the Darling Downs where Henry continued working as a Teamster. By 1936 the family had moved to Ipswich, QLD and Henry and his two sons were Butchers.

Gordon enlisted in the Army in September 1940 and was a Craftsman (Service Nos: QX42910/Q128177) with 6 AO W/S until his Discharge in December 1944. Older brother Lyal, also a Butcher, was a Private (Service No: QX516699) with 1 Ordnance Corps.

Gordon married Jeanne Agnes Ferguson (born 1918 in Brisbane, QLD) in December 1942 in Ipswich and was Discharged in December 1944.

Gordon and Jeanne moved to the Brisbane region, where he was a Butcher in Scarborough and New Farm. Jeanne died in 1976 and Gordon in 1987.
