Corporal George Thomas Dobson (Service No:QX43502) initially enlisted as a Private (Service No: Q89235) in the ACMF on 8 July 1941. He was attached to 4 Australian Supply Coy when he Discharged on 23 November 1942 to enlist in the AIF. Corporal Dobson served with the AASC and was attached to HQ Australian Supply Depot Coy at Discharge on 13 June 1946.
Born in 1916 in Brisbane QLD, George was the ninth of eleven children of Joseph Dobson (b 1875 in Enoggera, QLD) and Ida Lenette Dinte (b 1879 in Brisbane, QLD). Joseph (a Labourer) and Ida married in 1897 in Brisbane and lived in Hughenden, Bundaberg and Brisbane where Joseph was a Labourer, Boot Clicker, Mill Hand and Bootmaker.
George was a Dealer in Brisbane in1937 when he married Winifred May Blackler (b1916 in Brisbane, QLD). Following his Discharge, George and Winifred lived in Brisbane, QLD where George worked as a Taxi Driver. By 1960, George was living in Auckland, New Zealand and working as a Shop Assistant. He had remarried to Joan (also a Shop Assistant) by 1960 and the couple settled in Auckland where they both worked as Shop Assistants. In 1972 George was a Fruiterer - and he died in Auckland, NZ in 1987.
