Second of three brothers who served in WWII, Private Harold Thomas Evans (Service No:QX21158) enlisted in the AIF in Maryborough on 29 April 1941 - Sapper, graded Platelayer. Private Evans served with 3 Railway Construction Coy in the Middle East (1 September 1941 - 28 February 1943), and was Discharged on 12 November 1945.

Born in Rockhampton, QLD in 1911, Harold was second of three children (sons) of David John Evans (b1882 in Bundaberg, QLD) and Katherine (Katie) Nicol Kerr (b1886 in Bundaberg, QLD). David was a Labourer at Mt Perry when he and Katie married in 1907 in Bundaberg, where they settled and raised their family. David worked as a Miner (Limestone) at Marmor Mine via Bundaberg until his death in 1915.

Harold was a Labourer in Bundaberg, and in 1934 married Gladys Elizabeth Bates (b1913 in Bundaberg, QLD). Harold and Gladys settled in Bundaberg, where they raised their family and Harold worked as a Labourer until his death in 1978. Gladys died in 2012.
