Have in my possession Private John Highett Service Medal No 2031 AIF 50th Bn.I have no claim to this medal having bought it at garage sale. If anyone knows of any relative or family friend who would like to have this medal please contact me via e-mail. These medals are a part of our proud history and deserve preserving. If I have no response I will post it Australian War Museum in the hope they can see it safely "Home" Regards to all Bob Smith.

Married with a large family, John resided at 40 Magill Road Norwood.  He was educated at Burra School and played football for South Adelaide Club for some time.  In civilian life he was employed for several years with the S.A. Gas. Coy.  He enlisted in May 1940 and left Australia for England where he remained for 10 months.  Taken ill, he was invalided to Australian in March 1941.  John had also served in the Great War in the 50th Battalion.
