Lance Corporal William Eric Forbes. A.I.F., son of Mr and Mrs. Edward Forbes, Gooroolba, is a prisoner of war in Italy. A baker, employed by his brother-in-law, Mr. T. Lawrence at Gooroolba. Lance Corporal Forbes enlisted from Gooroolba in June 1940. He was captured in the Libyan Campaign and later advices stated that he was a prisoner of war in Italy. Nurse J Forbes, of St. Mary's Hospital, is a sister. Before the war Lance Corporal Forbes, as cricketer and tennis player, was prominent in many sporting contests in the Gooroolba district.
