Private Edward Arthur French (Service No::Q204682) enlisted in the ACMF in April 1942. He had previously served with the Militia (Service No:411986) - 9/49th Battalion C Coy Nambour (enlisted 1 January 1939). Private French was attached to 6 Battalion VDC QLD when he was Discharged in June 1944.

Born in 1907 in Melun, Chile in South America, Edward was the youngest of three children of Arthur Edward French (b1875 in Somerset, England) and Josephine Llewellyn Carter (b1874 in New Caledonia). Arthur and Josephine married in 1901 in New Caledonia and by 1904 were in Russia and in 1907 they were in South America. The family arrived in Brisbane, QLD in 1909 on board the Rippingham Grange and settled at Rosemount in Nablour, QLD. Arthur was a Farmer/Fruit Grower.

Edward worked as a Bridge Carpenter in Wondai, QLD and in 1935 in Brisbane married Jean Kathleen Beiers (b1906 in Loganholme, QLD). Edward and Jean settled in Nambour, QLD where Edward was a Farmer/Fruit Grower with his father. Edward died in 1970 and Jean in 1978.
