Archibald was the eldest of four children of Albert Justus Fritz (born 1898 at Laidley, QLD) and Mary Theresa Kanofski (born 1900 at Harrisville in QLD). Married in 1918, Albert and Mary raised their family at Kingaroy and Nanango in QLD where Albert was a Farmer.
Archibald was a Labourer at Moogerah, via Kalbar in Boonah, QLD when he enlisted in the AMF in July 1940 at Kelvin Grove in Brisbane, QLD. He served in the Middle East, New Guinea and Borneo as Lance Corporal with2/34 Australian Coy AGT, 2/25 Australian Transport Platoon and 2/21 Australian Transport Platoon. He was Discharged in November 1945. Brother Ivor served as a Private (Service No: QX14275).
On leave in Brisbane in 1942, Archibald married Gladys Joyce Nutley (born 1920 in Harrisville in QLD) - Gladys had undertaken Army training for Voluntray Aid Defence - and following his Discharge, they settled in Dayboro, QLD. 'Jobs were hard to get in those days. We started off on a milk farm in Dayboro. Later milk carting, railways and pineapple growing. Australian Paper Mill, Mobil Service Station and Namco before retiring' (Gladys Joyce Nutley - History). Gladys died in 2004 and Archibald in 2013.
