Ivor was the second of four children of Albert Justus Fritz (born 1898 at Laidley, QLD) and Mary Theresa Kanofski (born 1900 at Hattonvale, QLD). Albert and Mary married in 1918 and raised their family in Kingaroy, and Nanago, QLD where Albert was a Farmer.

Ivor was a Labourer when he enlisted in the AMF in 1941, serving with 2/21 Transport Platoon (Supplies and Transport) as a Private (Service No: QX42175). Ivor saw service in Borneo and was Discharged in April 1946. Brother Archbald (Service No: Q13745) also served in WWII.

Ivor married Josephine (Beautiful) Lorna Titmarsh (born 1925 at Kalbar, QLD) in 1947. They lived at Harrisville, QLD where Ivor was a Storekeeper, then moved to Banyo in the 1950s where Ivor worked as a Furniture Removalist until the early 1970s when they relocated to Banyo and Ivor worked  as a Crane Operator. Josephine died in 1982 and Ivor in 2001.
