Dulcie was the youngest of four children of Henry (Harry) William Gardner (b1885 in Ipswich, QLD) and Violet Ann Heale (1891 at Yarraman Creek, Darling Downs, QLD). Harry (a Labourer) and Violet married in 1913 at Yarraman, and in 1916 Harry enlisted in the AIF (Private; Service No:18908). Brother Joseph (Private; Service No:50) had served in the Boer War. Haryy and Violet settled at Yarraman on the Darling Downs and raised their family. Harry worked as a Labourer.
Dulcie was working in Brisbane, QLD as a Clerk when she enlisted in the Australian Army in September 1942 (Private; Service No:QF143286). She was a Corpoal attached to the Australian Army Women's Service when she was Discharged in August 1946. Brothers Henry William (Service No:Q3772) and Sydney Gordon (Service Nos:QX39195/Q152253/Q3773), Brotherr-in-Law Norman Allan Scott (Service No:QX10608) and several cousins also served in WWII.
Dulcie worked in Brisbane as a Clerk and Comptometer Operator after the War, and travelled to London in 1949. On her return, Dulcie lived in Brisbane, QLD and worked as a Clerk, Machinist and Manageress. Dulcie died in 2006.
