Flight Lieutenant Allan Arthur Gibb (Service No:429551) enlisted in the RAAF in October 1942 - having initially enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:Q136603) in April 1942. Allan served as a Leading Aircraftman and was awarded his Flying Badge on 23 December 1943. He served in Canada and the UK with 115 Squadron and 27 and 21 OTUs. He was attached to 21 Operational Training Unit when he was Discharged in March 1946. Whilst posted in the UK in 1945, Allan married Doreen Margaret Craig (b1927 in Lancashire, England). Doreen emigrated in 1946, arriving on board the Atlantis from Southampton.
Allan had worked as an Assistant Teacher in Emerald QLD before enlisting in the ACMF, and returned to Teaching - he and Doreen settled in Ipswich, QLD (One Mile and Booval) where Allan was a Teacher. In the mid 1970s the couple transferred to Burleigh Heads on the Gold Coast where Allan was a Teacher until he retired. Allan died in 1996.
