Private Archibald Bruce Glasse (Service No:Q225676) initially served in the Militia (Middle Head, New South Wales) for three years as a DRF Specialist with 14th Heavy Battery prior to enlisting in the ACMF in Toowoomba, QLD. Private Glasse served with 7 Battalion (QLD) VDC from 11 March 1942 to 21 October 1945.

Eldest of two children, Archie was born in Casino, New South Wales in 1908 to Andrew James Glasse (b1882 in Fifeshire, Scotland) and Harriet Montgomery (b1879 in Hamilton, Victoria). Andrew immigrated in 1891, arriving in Sydney with his parents and siblings on board the Braunschweig, and worked as a Carpenter in Inverell. He and Harriet married in 1907 in Casino, where they lived before settling at Milson's Point in Sydney in the 1920s - Andrew was a Carpenter.

Archie worked as an Electrical Fitter in Sydney and Toowoomba, where he met his first wife Hilda Gwendoline Leadbetter (b1912 in Mitchell, QLD). He and Hilda married in 1939 in Sydney, and settled in Toowoomba where they raised their family and Archie was an Electrical Fitter with Toowoomba Electric Light & Power Coy. Following his Discharge from the Army, Archie and Hilda divorced, and both remarried - Hilda in 1949 and Archie in 1947. Archie and his second wife Evelyn Mary Thornton (b1919 in Warwick, QLD) settled in Toowoomba - Evelyn was a Waitress in Toowoomba before enlisting in the AWAS (Service No:QF2666062) in 1942. Archie and Evelyn settled in Toowoomba, where Archie worked as an Electrical Fitter until retirement. Evelyn died in 1974 and Archie in 1983.
