"MEMBER OF NAVAL BRIDGING TRAIN.

On Wednesday night a farewell was tendered to Mr. Oscar L. Conrad, at the residence of his mother, at Second avenue, St. Peters, prior to his departure for the seat of war as a member of the Australian Naval Bridging Train. He was presented by his friends and relatives with an inscribed wristlet watch and silver-mounted pipe. His brother (Mr. Herbert S. Conrad) is now at the front, and another brother (Mr. Norman K. Conrad) has enlisted as a despatch rider." - from the Adelaide Register 22 May 1915 (nla.gov.au)
