Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

Arthur was the eldest of five children of John Henry Green (born 1892 at Booval in Ipswich, QLD) and Agnes Grace Feeney (born 1895 in Kircheim, QLD - renamed Haigslea during WWI as a result of anti German sentiment). John and Agnes married in Ipswich, QLD in 1913 and John worked as a Labourer and Timbergetter at Rosewood, Roma, Walloon, Margurg, Yarraman and Ipswich.

Arthur was a Labourer in Ipswich in 1935 when he married Mavis Elizabeth Catherine Dampier (born 1917 at Bundanba in Ipswich, QLD). Arthur and Mavis were living at Ebbw Vale in Ipswich when Arthur enlisted in the Australian Army in September 1942. He served as a Craftsman (Service No:QX35279) with 2/1 Australian Base Workshop Corps AEME in New Guinea. He was Discharged in February 1946. Brother Charles served with the AMF (Service No:Q18827) and brother Robert served with the RAN (Service No:27859).

Arthur and Mavis lived at Ebbw Vale and Dinmore where Arthur was a Carpenter's Labourer, moving to Bundamba in the late 1950's where Arthur worked as a Coal Miner. Arthur died in 1985 and Mavis in 1999.
