Pud was the second of five children of William Francis Greisbach Snr (b1894 in Ipswich, QLD) and Nora Pearl Harris (b1898 in Ipswich, QLD). William - a Miner - and Nora married in 1916 in Ipswich, QLD where they settled and raised their family.

Pud was a Miner in Ipswich in 1940 when he enlisted in the Australian Army. He was a Private (Service No:QX7033) with 2/9 Battalion when he was captured by the Germans in Greece. Pud was imprisoned in Stalag XVII - D (PoW No:5175) at Maribor (Slovenia). Brother-in-Law Leslie Sydney Nunn (Leading Aircraftman; Service No:76982) and Brothers Kenneth Albert Noah (Private; Service No:QX28833) and Stanley (Private; Service No:QX8702) also served in WWII - Stanley was a PoW and died in Burma.

Following his Discharge, Pud returned to Ipswich where he married Thelma Mavis Nunn (b1917 in Ipswich, QLD) in 1947. Pud and Thelma settled in Ipswich, where Pud was a Miner. He died in 1992 and Thelma in 2002.
