The death of Eric John Grimstone occurred at the Proserpine hospital late last Thursday night.
The late Mr Grimstone, who was 84 years of age, had been a Proserpine personality for many years, both as assistant in the old firm of Maltby’s Menswear in the 30’s & later his own menswear & sports store, which he established after his return from service in WW2.

He was instrumental in putting this activity back on its feet after its decline in the district during the years of war. The late Mr Grimstone is survived by his wife, Edith, daughter Lyn, son-in-law Mark Richards & 3 grandchildren. His funeral took place on Monday afternoon, was attended by a large number of relatives & friends, many coming from far away for the last sad rites. The Church & burial services were conducted by Rev Fr b. Patterson, of St. Catherine’s Church, with an Ex-Serviceman’s service at the graveside conducted by Mr W. Worthington.
