Signalwoman Gladys Bery Hall (Service No:QF266017) served in the AWAS, enlisting on 2 November 1942 - classifed as Instrument Operator. Signalwoman Hall served with 38 Australian Heavy Anti Aircraft Battery and 2 Australian Signals Training Battalion, and was attached to HQ AMF Signals at Discharge on 6 December 1945. Signalwoman Hall was one of five siblings (William, Sydney, Douglas and Dorothy) who serve din WWII.
Gladys (aka Beryl) was born at Deep Creek, Mt Brisbane via Esk, QLD) in 1917, third of eight children of Wliiam (Willie) Hall (b1888 in Bryden, QLD) and Gladys Smith (b1888 in Esk, QLD). Willie (a Labourer) and Gladys married in Esk in 1912, and by 1916 Willie was working for QGR as a Railways Employee. Willie and Gladys lived in Esk, Toogoolawah, Yimbin via Esk before settling in Kilcoy.
Beryl was a Cook in Kilcoy in 1942 when she enlisted in the Army, and in 1947 in Kilcoy, she married Bernard (Bunny) Olsson Darlington (b1915 at Boaga via Baffle Creek, QLD) - Bunny had served in the Army. Beryl and Bunny settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Bunny worked as a Builder's Labourer and Porter. Beryl died in 1973 and Bunny in 2007.
