WILKINSON, Edwin Stanley (1865-1944)
Born in about 1865 at Queenscliff, he was the son of the Rev Henry John Wilkinson (1836-1907) and Elizabeth nee Munnings (1837-1921). He may have been educated at Geelong College however there is no enrolment record for him nor does he appear in the Annual Report prize lists. He served in the Melbourne University Militia.
He married Amy Mary Morgan (1867-1902) at Burwood, NSW in 1892 and after her early death on 5 February 1902 married again to Charlott Marcia Osborne (1872-1962) at Berrima, NSW on 20 August 1903. He was a grazier living at Gunnongjugwrah', Gobaralong, Coolac, NSW, when he enlisted (No. 1907) with the 2nd Remounts (7th Squadron) on 16 October 1915 in Brisbane, embarking from Sydney on 10 November on RMS Orontes. He was a Quartermaster during his service and was Mentioned in General Sir E H H Allenby's Despatches on 19 September 1918. He returned to Australia on 26 July 1919.
He died at Woollahra, NSW on 22 December 1944.
His name is listed on the Geelong College Great War Memorial Tablet as 'Wilkinson E S'.
His brothers, Henry Ernest Wilkinson (1860-1915), and Dr Arthur McKenzie Wilkinson (1863-1929) were also educated at Geelong College.
