Private Willis James Head (Service No:Q140392) enlisted in the ACMF on 3 March 1942 and was attached to 15 Garrison Battalion. Private Head was attached to 1 Garrison Battalion when he Discharged on 4 January 1945.
Born in 1898 at Laidley on the Darling Downs In QLD, Willis was the eldest child of Henry Octavius Head (b1872 in Ipswich, QLD) and second child of Edith Sophia Maud Marsh (b1876 in Gatton, QLD). Henry (a Farmer) and Edith married in 1898 in Laidley, QLD and had eight children together. Henry was a Farmer at Blenheim, Laidley QLD.
Willis was a Labourer at Blenheim in Laidley QLD and in 1921 married Ethel May Maher (b1900 in Lismore, NSW). By 1925 Willis and Ethel had moved to Pinbarren in Noosa Shire, QLD where Willis was a Farmer. He and Ethel had four children when he enlisted in the ACMF, and following Ethel's death in 1949 Willis was a Forestry Worker at Imbil QLD and Labourer in Maitland NSW. In 1960 he married Thelma Thomas Hay (b1908 in Maryborough, QLD). Willis and Thelma settled in Maryborough where Willis died in 1968 and Thelma in 1992.
