He was 27 and the son of Mr and Mrs Hunt of Welcombe House.

He is one of three Australian soldiers commemorated on the Barnstaple War Memorial. There is also one New Zealand casualty.

The other two  Australian soldiers are :

Corporal George Dalling of the 10th Battalion, the Australian Light Horse Regiment. 

Private Percy Thomas Channon of the 21st Battalion, the Australian Infantry Force.
