Private Clarence Wilbur Hillier (Service No:Q201416) enlisted in the ACMF on 12 May 1942 and served with 2 Battalion VDC (QLD) until Discharge on 20 June 1944. He had previously served with the Militia (Private; Service No:127351) with 26th Battalion from 24 June 1930 to 30 June 1931.

Born at Woodford QLD, Jim was the youngest of seven children of John Edward Hillier (b1868 at Humpy Bong in the Moreton Bay Region, QLD) and Susan Jackson (b1871 at Redbank Plains, Ipswich, QLD). John (a Farmer) and Susan married in 1891 in Ipswich, QLD and settled at Christmas Creek nr Beaudesert, QLD where they raised their family and John was a Farmer before retiring to Southport in the mid 1920s.

Jim started work as a Pastry Cook and in 1932 married May Freeman (b1907 in Gympie, QLD) in Southport, QLD. Jim and May lived in Gladstone and Pomona where Jim was a Baker, and at Woodford QLD where he was a Butcher when he enlisted in the ACMF. By 1949 Jim and May had settled in Brisbane, QLD where Jim worked as a Master Baker. Jim died in 1964 and May in 1991.
