G. Holmes, was a man of character yet was significantlychanged by the war. He was a long running member of the Toowoomba Fire Brigade, and was well mannered and respectable. Gordon was extrememly professional in all the he did, having a sense of preparedness and reliability at all matters of time. He especially liked to do a spot of gardening on the side.
He loved and cared for all his family, expecially his three children: Lyndal Holmes, Jan Holmes and Geoff Holmes.
He was a loving member of the community, and was always ready to care for and help anybody in need.
