Private Charles Frederick Hopkins (Service No:Q208641) previously served in the Militia (Private; Service No:221383) with 43rd Field Battery and 11th Field Brigade from 1 July 1926 to November 1932. He enlisted in the ACMF on 19 May 1942 and was attached to 11 Battalion VDC (QLD) at Discharge on 6 October 1944.

Born in London England in 1908, Charles was the sixth of seven children of Frederick Charles Hopkins (b1876 in Essex, England) and Nellie Oliver (b1876 in London, England). Frederick (a House Painter and Decorator) and Nellie married in 1896 in Essex, England - Frederick worked as a House Painter and Decorator and Nellie as a Launderess and Hawker. Following Nellie's death in 1913, Frederick immigrated with his six surviving children, arriving in Brisbane QLD in 1915 on board the Roscommon. Frederick settled in Brisbane where he raised his children and worked as a Painter and Decorator.

Charles worked in Brisbane as a Painter and Decorator and in 1933 he married Ekaterine Shanovsky (b1909 in Russia). Charles and Ekaterine were living in Maryborough QLD in 1944 when Ekaterine died. Charles remarried in 1945 - Doris Christoffel (b1922 in Beenleigh, QLD) and by 1949 the couple had settled in Brisbane where Charles worked as a House Painter. In the early 1970s Charles and Doris moved to Southport, QLD where Charles worked as a House Painter. Charles died in 1982 and Doris in 2007.
