Elder of the two brothers (Albert) who served in WWII, Private Frank Kamp (Service No:QX1031) enlisted in the AIF on 22 October 1939 and Marched Out to Petrol Coy AASC. Private Kamp was attached to 2/2 Australian Coy AASC on 22 April 1940 when he embarked with his Unit from Melbourne for Kantara. Private Kamp served with the AASC in the Middle East and Greece until 7 April 1942, and then served in Papua New Guinea (Goodenough Island, Moresby) with 2/2 Australian Coy AASC and 151 and 102 Australian General Transport Coys - graded Cook (13 April 1943 - 2 May 1944). In 1945 (June - July) Private Kamp was in Morotai with 2/38 Australian General Transport Platoon, and was attached to 6 Division AASC (Driver) at Discharge on 2 August 1945.

Frank (Franz Ferdinand) was born in Lowood, QLD in 1910, seventh of eight children of Albert Gustav Adolph Kamp (b1880 in Tarampa via Lowood, QLD) and Emma Amalia Vorpagel (b1877 in Tarampa via Lowood, QLD). Albert and Emma married in 1888 in Tarampa, and settled in Helidon where they raised their family and Albert was a Farmer. 

Frank started work as a Farm Hand at Mt Tyson, where he was a member of the Mt Tyson Football Club. In the mid 1930s he settled in Helidon, where he worked as a Quarryman (W Wright & Sons Freestone Quarry). Following his Discharge from the Army, Frank returned to Helidon and was working as a Labourer in 1946 when he married Annie Isabella Slater (b1917 in Hemmant, Brisbane, QLD). Frank and Annie settled in Helidon, where they raised their family and Frank worked as a Labourer until retirement in the mid 1970s, when he and Annie moved to Wynnum in Brisbane.. Frank died in 1980 and Annie in 1995.
