Son of John (Jack) O'Sullivan and Louisa O'Sullivan nee Jones of  Enmore Hall, Waratah, Newcastle, NSW formerly of Zeehan, Tasmania.

Husband of Edith Marian O'Sullivan nee White of Church Road, Horfield, Bristol, England. Sidney and Edith married on 10 March 1916 in the Registry Office, Clutton, Somerset, England. Registrar W.E. Bird officiated.

Commenced return to Australia on 25 February 1919 aboard HT Balmoral Castle disembarking on 16 April 1919
