Gunner Henry James Kliese (Service No:Q28320) served with the ACMF from 4 September 1940 to 7 October 1943. Initially a Private, he served with 6th Anti Aircraft battery and was Discharged as Medically Unfit.

Born in 1916 at Nundah in Brisbane QLD, Henry was the eighth of ten children of Herman (Paul) August Paul Kliese (b1873 in Berlin, Germany) and Sarah Jane Gollagher (b1882 in Nundah, QLD). Paul immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1878, arriving in Brisbane QLD on board the Lamershagen. Paul (a Miner) and Sarah married in 1902 in Nundah where they settled and raised their family and Paul worked as a Labourer and Fruit Vendor.

Henry worked as a Labourer in Nundah where, in 1941, he married Edith Mary Williams (b1914 in Dayborough, QLD). Henry and Edith settled in Nundah where Henry worked as a Labourer, Contractor and Sawmiller before settling in Margate, QLD where he was a Fruit Vendor. Henry died in 1981 and Edith in 1989.
