Biography contributed by Chris Buckley

One of three brothers who served in WWII, Private Eric Krisanski (Service No:Q31230) enlisted in the AIF on 7 April 1942 and was posted to 7 Training Battalion (Sapper). Private Krisanski served in New Guinea (21 January 1943 - 4 June 1944) with 11 Field Coy RAE, and in 1943 was detached for duty to 1 Water Transport Small Crafts RAE and to 55 Field Coy RAE. Private Krisanski then served with 11 Field Coy - graded Driver Mechanic - in the Solomon Islands, Torokina and Morotai (23 November 1944 - 24 May 1946), and was attached to 11 Field Coy at Discharge on 21 August 1946.

Eric was born in Laidley, QLD in 1920, second of ten children of Otto (Tom) Heinrich Adolph Krisanski (b1893 at Ma Ma Creek via Gatton, QLD) and Edie Annie Humrich (b1899 in Laidley, QLD). Tom was a Labourer in Laidley when he and Edie married in Plainland, Lockyer Valley in 1918. They lived in Laidley, where Tom was a Labourer, before moving in the early 1920s to Philpott Creek via Gayndah and then to Binjour Plateau via Mundubbera, where they raised their family and Tom was a Dairy Farmer. In the 1930s Tom joined QLD Rail, working as a Fettler in the Lockyer Valley district - Esk, Eidsvold, Abercorn, Kapaldo, Laidley - before retiring to Ipswich.

Eric worked as a Firewood Cutter and Farm Labourer in Esk and at Jacob's Well via Yatala before enlisting in the AIF. In 1946 in Esk he married Iris Ethel Gumz (b1920 in Esk, QLD). Following his Discharge from the Army, Eric and Iris settled in Esk, where they raised their family and Eric was a Labourer, and was active in the Coal Creek Tennis Club and Mt Beppo Cricket Club. In 1954 Eric and Iris moved to Toogoolawah, where Eric was a Farmer before settling at Mt Mee Mee via Woodford in the 1960s. Eric was a Farmer at Mt Mee, and died in Woodford in 1994. Iris died in 1998.
