Youngest of three brothers who served in WWII, Corporal Norman Krisanski (Service Nos:Q4009/QX63232) initially served in the Militia (2/14th Light Horse Regiment) prior to enlisting in the ACMF on 2 September 1940 as a Private attached to 12 Australian Army Ordnance Store Coy (AAOSC) - graded Shoemaker in 1942. Private Krisanski was attached to 10 Army Returned Stores Depot (ARSD) when he embarked from Townsville for Lae on board the Shawnee on 5 January 1945, and was 'in the field' in New Guinea when he enlisted in the AIF on 5 Februray 1945 - re graded as Refitter. Corporal Krisanski emplaned from Lae for Cairns on 26 January 1946, and was attached to 10 ARSD at Discharge on 12 February 1946.

Norm was born at Laidley in the Lockyer Valley, QLD in 1922, third of ten children of Otto (Tom) Heinrich Adolph Krisanski (b1893 at Ma Ma Creek via Gatton, QLD) and Edie Annie Humrich (b1899 in Laidley, QLD). Tom was a Labourer in Laidley when he and Edie married in 1918 in Plaintown in the Lockyer Valley. The couple lived in Laidley, where Tom was a Labourer, before moving in 1920 to Philpott Creek via Gayndah and then to Binjour Plateau via Mundubbera, where they raised their family and Tom was a Dairy Farmer. In the 1930s Tom joined QLD Rail as a Fettler, and the family lived in the Lockyer Valley region - Eidsvold, Esk, Abercom, Kapaldo - before retiring to Ipswich.

Norm worked as a Farm Hand in Toogoolawah before enlisting in the Army. In 1944 in Ipswich he married Estelle May Brunner (b1923 in Toowoomba, QLD). Following his Discharge from the Army, Norm and Estelle settled in Toowoomba, where they raised their family and Norm worked as a Boot Repairer and then as a Labourer, Leading Hand and Foreman.
