Son of Harold LENTON and Florence Bendline Mary Alice nee HARRIS
The death occurred in the Proserpine District Hospital on Tuesday night of Mr. Percy George Lenton, aged 25 years. Deceased was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lenton, of Calen. After serving with the AIF in New Guinea he proceeded to Japan with the Army of Occupation. He was discharged last October after being away from home for four Christmas periods and was looking forward to spending the coming festive season with his parents. Deceased had secured a position with the Main Roads construction gang and was to have started work on Monday morning but due to illness was prevented from doing so. He was conveyed to the hospital by the ambulance. The funeral, which moved from the Catholic Church, was well attended by Calen residents and ex-servicemen from both Calen and Proserpine. The coffin was draped with the Union Jack. Rev. Father McCoy officiated services.
