John was the eldest of four children of Samuel Little (born 1885 in Durham, England) and Grace McCormick (Born 1886 in Scotland). Samuel was an Engine Fitter (Ship Builders) in 1913 when he married Grace in Linthigow, Scotland. They settled at Jarrow-on-Tyne in Durham, where Samuel was an Engine Fitter. In May 1925 Samuel and Grace, with their three children (John and twins Grace and Walter) arrived in QLD on board the Sophocles. The family settled in Sarina, QLD where Samuel worked as a Fitter.
In 1944 John was a Labourer in Sarina, QLD when he enlisted in the Australian Army. He was a Gunner (Service No:QX60842) attached to 141 Heavy AntiAircraft Battery when he was Discharged in March 1946. Brother Ronald also served in WWII.
John lived in Sarina, QLD and worked as a Labourer until his death in 1976.
