John was the only child of John Giovanni Lorenzetti (born 1882 in Genoa, Italy) and Maria Ann Napoli (born 1887 in Trapone, Italy). John Snr arrived in QLD in 1900 on board the Freedrich der Grosse, and was a Labourer in Mossman, QLD when he married Maria in June 1906. John Snr died in August 1906 and Maria remarried Bernadino Lopez (born 1874 in Salina, Italy) in 1907. They had three children together and lived at Cassowary Creek, Mossman where Bernadino was a Farmer.
John commenced work at Cassowary Creek as a Labourer and by 1936 was a Farm Manager. He enlisted in the Australian Army in April 1940 and was a Corporal (Service No:QX3914) attached to 2/9 Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged in August 1945.
In 1942 John had married Shop Assistant Enrica Bettoia (born 1920 in Germany) in Woolongong, NSW. Following his Discharge the couple settled in Woolongong where John worked as a Labourer and Road Carrier, and Enrica continued to work as a Shop Assistant. John died in 1979 and Enrica in 1991.
