Wilson was the youngest of eight children of William Arthur Maller (b1869 in Wallumbilla, QLD) and Martha Gardner (b1869 in Ipswich, QLD). William (a Farmer) and Martha married in 1891 in Ipswich, where they lived until moving to Woogaroo Creek in Redcliffe, QLD in 1900. William was a Farmer at Woogaroo Creek until moving to Pickanjinnie near Roma, QLD by 1908.
Wilson was a Farmer at Pickanjinnie near Roma when he enlisted in the ACMF in April 1942. He was a Private (Service No:Q228647) attached to 19 Battalion VDC Roma when he was Discharged in October 1945. Brothers Arthur Glenas (Private; Service No:7019) and Richard Norman (Private; Service No:7018) served in WWI and nephew Glenas Arthur (Leading Aircraftman; Service No:77923) served in WWII.
Wilson remained at Pickanjinnie and by 1949 was living with Winifred Pearl King (nee Bradford; b1920 in Tannymorel, QLD) - Winifred served in the Australian Women's Army Service as an Ambulance Driver (Private; Service No:Q142155) in WWII. Wilson and Winifred married in the early 1950s, and they lived at Pickanjinnie. Wilson died in 2002 and Winifred in 2017.
