Private Godfrey Stewart Marsh (Service No:Q229046) enlisted in the ACMF with his older brother Ted (Service No:Q229045), and served with 19 Battalion (Roma) VDC from 5 July 1942 to 21 October 1945.
Godfrey was born in Mitchell, QLD in 1910, fourth of five children of John William Marsh (b1869 at Perwell Station via St George, QLD) and Emma (Tossie) Caroline Adelaide Campbell (b1877 in Wilcannia, New South Wales). John and Tottie married in 1896 in Mitchell, and settled at Hillsborough Station via St George where they raised their family and John was a Grazier and Justice of the Peace.
Godfrey worked as a Station Hand on the family property (Hillsborouh Station), and in 1944 in Brisbane married Marie Olive Kirby (b1916 in Goondiwindi, QLD). Godfrey and Marie settled at Hillsborough Station, where they raised their son and Godfrey was a Grazier until his death in 1946. Marie remarried in the early 1950s.
