Dvr McBride joined the Citizen Military Forces (CMF) 28 October 1941 and was called up for full time duty 23 December 1941 and posted to the 15th Battalion. He was classified as an essential industry worker and discharged 9 March 1943. Dvr McBride is a Kitabel/Gidabal man who belongs to the Banjalung people of North Eastern NSW and his wife May belongs maternally to the Batjala people from Fraser Island and paternally to the Darambal people from Kepple Islands.
