Gunner Leonard Henry McGuinness (Service No:Q151167) enlisted in the ACMF on 6 December 1941 with General Details Depot (GDD), and Marched In to 5/11 Field Regiment. Private McGuinness was attached to Field Artillery Training Regiment at Discharge on 20 June 1946.

Len was born in Yarraman via Toowoomba QLD in 1923, eldest of two children of Henry McGuinness (b1899 in Cunnamulla, QLD) and Mary Ann Knight (b1900 in Eukey via Stanthorpe, QLD). Henry (a Labourer) and Mary (a Taioress) married in Yarraman and settled in Darra, where they raised their family and Henry worked as a Labourer at the QLD Cement Works. The couple separated in 1929, and Mary moved to Stanthorpe before divorcing in 1938 and remarrying. Henry remained in Darra, where he was a Cement Worker and served in the Militia (Private; Service No:120848) in 1930/1931. In the 1940s Henry settled in Brisbane, where he worked as a Saw Miller and Meat Worker.

Len worked in Brisbane as a Timber Worker and Sheet Metal Worker, and in 1942 married Jean Lillian Ball (b1923 in Brisbane, QLD). Len and Jean settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Len worked as a Painter until retirement. Len died in 1994.
