Private Edgar James MvKenzie (Service No:Q200241) served in the ACMF with 1 Battalion (QLD) VDC from 15 April 1942 to 9 July 1943.
Edgar was born in Roma, QLD in 1909, fourth of eight children of Alexander (Sandy) John McKenzie (b1867 in Coonabarabran, New South Wales) and Margaret Eliza Maude Hobson (b1884 in Leyburn, QLD). Sandy was a Labourer in Mitchell in 1905 when he and Margaret married in Charleville, and settled in Mungalalla. Sandy worked as a Trapper and Labourer, and was a Selector on 'Woodbine' at Mungalalla - he also served as a Member of the Mungalalla State School Committee.
Edgar was working in Kelvin Grove, Brisbane as a Master Butcher in 1935 when he married Eileen McMaster (b1915 in Rockhamton, QLD). Edgar and Eileen settled in Brisbane, where they raised their family before moving to Nerang in the early 1950s. Eileen died in 1982, and Edgar - a Butcher - died in 1984.
